Product overview
Fixed-Based Flight Simulators (FTDs) are a key tool in modern flight training, used by airlines worldwide for practicing standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklist flows, and aircraft systems.
Training focus areas include:
- Workload management
- Situational awareness
- Decision-making in normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions
Our FTD’s are configured to aircraft-specific flight decks that offer a comparable experience to full flight simulators, minus the motion. Enhanced sound simulation and an optional 220º field of view provide pilots with realistic visual cues under various conditions.
Our Fixed-Based Flight Training Devices offer key features such as:
- Flight crew training for standard and emergency procedures
- Simulation of flight and ground procedures
- Customizable configurations to meet your airline's specific needs
- Comprehensive navigation database
- Maintenance functions
- FMS/avionics re-hosting (where available)
Key benefits
Our Fixed-Based Flight Simulation Training Devices offer efficient and tailored training solutions for airline operators.
Realistic training scenarios
Equipped with high-specification technologies, our FTDs create realistic training environments that simulate real-world flight conditions.
Streamlined training process
Ideal for use before pilots or maintenance personnel move on to full flight simulators or physical aircraft, our FTDs help streamline training and support smoother transitions to more advanced platforms.
Versatile across the full training curriculum
In addition to airlines, FTDs are widely used by airline training centers, universities, colleges, and flight schools, providing an excellent platform for new pilots and for pilots progressing from first officer to captain.
Comprehensive support
We offer complete customer support, including technical assistance, upgrades, and asset lifecycle management, preventing device downtime, and maximising your device’s reliability.
Certification and compliance
At Acron Aviation, we pride ourselves on providing flight training devices that meet the highest industry standards for qualification and certification. Our FTDs can be qualified to meet both EASA and FAA certification requirements, ensuring compliance with global regulations.
By choosing our training devices, you ensure that your airline meets international training and safety requirements, while providing pilots and crew with the most advanced, reliable training tools available.
EASA FTD Level 1 and FNPTII
Our devices meet stringent European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards, providing your trainees with high-fidelity training environments that support professional pilot development.
FAA Level 6 and Level 7
Certified to meet the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, our FTDs offer a high degree of realism and system functionality for training in various operational scenarios.
Aircraft type availability
Tailor your airline pilot training to your fleet’s specific requirements. Our FTDs are available for the following aircraft types:
Airbus and Boeing
Airbus A320, Airbus A350, Boeing 737NG and Boeing 737MAX
Bombardier
Dash8-Q300, Dash8-Q400, CRJ200, CRJ700/900
What is the difference between full and fixed-based flight simulators?
Both full and fixed-based flight simulators provide immersive environments for airline training. The key difference is motion: full flight simulators generate motion, while fixed-based simulators replicate cockpit sounds, visuals, and environments without movement.
Fixed-based simulators are often used alongside full flight simulators to complete specific training tasks, reserving full-motion devices for more complex training. In addition to fixed-based simulators, we offer Flat Panel Trainers and Flight Management System Trainers for preliminary training.
