NTSB visits ACSS in Phoenix, Arizona

Acron Aviation and American Airlines hosted National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair, Jennifer Homendy in Phoenix, Arizona, at our ACSS facility following an inflight demonstration of our cutting-edge ADS-B In technology. This meeting was a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance aviation safety through advanced technology.

During the visit, Chair Homendy received a detailed briefing on the ADS-B In system from our engineers. Homendy also experienced the capabilities of our Interval Management (IM) functionality firsthand on an American Airlines A321 flight to Phoenix. This showcased how ADS-B In enables precise aircraft spacing during enroute, approach and landing, significantly boosting both safety and operational efficiency.

ADS-B In allows aircraft to receive real-time positioning data from other aircraft, giving pilots a comprehensive view of surrounding traffic leading to more informed cockpit decision-making. This information, combined with IM, enables optimal spacing, resulting in less fuel burn, reduced controller workload and increased airspace capacity.

Our discussions with Chair Homendy highlighted several practical applications of ADS-B In technology for enhancing aviation safety. We outlined the benefit of pending ATC system updates that would allow controllers to identify ADS-B In equipped aircraft on their screens and discussed the technology's role in supporting flight deck safety initiatives.

Robin Glover-Faure, Chief Customer Officer at Acron Aviation, said: "We were honored to welcome NTSB Chair Homendy to experience a live demonstration of our ADS-B In technology. We extend a big thank you to American Airlines for their invaluable partnership in showcasing how our SafeRoute+ system delivers practical solutions to real-world aviation challenges and helps create safer skies."

American Airlines has already chosen Acron Aviation’s ACSS SafeRoute+ ADS-B In technology for its entire Airbus A321 and A321XLR fleet, making them the largest operator equipped with our system.

The visit concluded with discussions on accelerating the adoption of ADS-B In across commercial aviation, with everyone recognizing its profound safety benefits. We remain committed to innovating for safer skies.
