Course overview

The Teaching & Learning Part 1 Course forms the foundation of our full Type Rating Instructor Training program. It exceeds the regulatory requirements of Part 1 Teaching and Learning, ensuring that participants are prepared to instruct in accordance with both airline and EASA regulations.

This course is designed to cover essential training skills while extending beyond the basic syllabus to include advanced topics that prepare participants to deliver effective instruction in a simulator environment. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in simulator flying instruction using a generic twin jet simulator. The course covers key areas such as Crew Resource Management (CRM) debriefing techniques, crew behavior analysis, and debriefing challenging trainees.

Course content

The course is delivered over five days at our London Training Center, covering a range of essential topics to ensure that both airline instructors and individual trainees are equipped with comprehensive training techniques.

The Teaching & Learning Part 1 Course is designed for both airlines and individual pilots:

  • Airlines: If your airline needs to train new instructors for Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC), Type Rating Instructor (TRI), or Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) roles, this course provides the foundational skills needed for effective teaching
  • Individual Pilots: Pilots aspiring to become certified instructors can take this course as the first step toward their Type Rating Instructor (TRI) or Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) certification
