Acron Aviation’s Initial Safety Management Systems (SMS) Training Programme is a comprehensive two-day course designed to provide aviation professionals with a practical understanding of modern safety management principles and their application within regulated aviation organisations. Developed to support the requirements and expectations of the UK CAA, EASA, ICAO, and other internationally aligned regulatory authorities, the programme introduces participants to the fundamental components of an effective Safety Management System and the role every individual plays in maintaining and improving organisational safety performance.
The course bridges the gap between regulatory compliance and practical safety management, ensuring participants understand how safety risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored within aviation operations.

Meet the trainer - Peter Hogston
Peter Hogston has had a full career as a commercial pilot in both the rotary and fixed-wing sectors. He has delivered services successfully for Baines Simmons and CAAi working with commercial and military operators, national aviation Authorities and non-commercial operations.
Peter has delivered regulatory change and training programmes on behalf of regulators and the regulated, globally. This includes training UKCAA and EASA teams on the effective implementation of SMS and regulatory development.
Peters’ knowledge includes the practical application of regulations, the benefits of effective safety management and resulting improvements in business performance.
